Jagged Alliance Flashback is a turn-based tactical and strategic game set in the fictional country of Arulco. The game focuses on the player assembling a team of mercenaries, sometimes referred to as the ‘Jagged Alliance’, and guiding them to success through a variety of missions and objectives. Players are able to customize their team's looks, skills, and equipment, as well as command their team on the battlefield.

The game features a story-driven campaign, with a variety of objectives and various endings depending on the decisions made by the player. In addition to the campaign, there’s also a skirmish mode, allowing players to play against the computer, or against other players in multiplayer.

The game features a range of tactical options, such as setting up ambushes, placing mines, and utilizing advanced weaponry and tactics. Players can also take advantage of the environment to get the upper hand in combat, such as utilizing the terrain, setting up choke-points, or using a variety of objects for cover. All this allows for a lot of tactical depth and replayability.
